New lens

Mon Aug 8, 2005, 7:56 AM
Picked up a new lens today. Canon 100mm 2.8 USM macro lens. I got it for a great price and it even came with the super expensive lens hood too.

A few things:
1) Great "bubble" finish. Like my old 70-200 2.8
2) Big
3) Shooting up close at 100mm and 2.8 is freaking hard to do!

Be prepared for some new shots.

Everything I learned about PhotoShop...

Tue May 17, 2005, 8:27 PM
I figured out by screwing up.

So here I am trying to color correct and edit some 1000 photos. Not going to happen. I edited them down to about 220. Much better.

I have always been a bit clunky with PS but with this many photos to work up I need to improve.

I have found out some truths about PS:

1) Get the fastest computer you can afford. Surfing the web, writing papers, who cares how turbo-charged your processor, vid card and RAM are? Try to work on some 200 photos in PS and you'll care.

2) Keyboard shortcuts. Learn them. Save 5 seconds here and there and it will add up.

3) For digital photos, shoot RAW if possible. Now I've got all these huge files but since I'm working with tiffs, I'm not losing data with saves. Nice.

Ok, might submit a few now :)

New photos soon

There was a talent gathering in DSM over the weekend. I had a good time and shot over 1000 photos, so I should have some new things up soon :)
